Baseball and Summer Memories

As a kid I grew up wanting to be a professional baseball player. I would watch all my favorite Cincinnati Reds players like George Foster, Johnny Bench and Dave Conception on TV when the games were televised. I loved the ‘Big Red Machine’ growing up. I still remember the whole family watching the World Series games and everyone cheering and going crazy in the living room.

I moved away from Cincinnati but I remain a big baseball fan of the Reds. Thankfully today we have Direct TV so I am still able to watch many of the Reds games. With today’s technology watching the games is almost like being in the stadium. My big screen high definition TV provides a life like picture and my surround sound makes it sound like I am sitting in the stands.

Things sure have changed from the 1970s. My Cincinnati Reds are no longer a baseball powerhouse, I get to see more games on TV and I’m no longer that kid thinking one day I would be playing for the Reds. Some things are better today. I have a screen over 50” compared to the old 19” TV I had growing up. Best of all I don’t have to watch a fuzzy screen and have to adjust the old rabbit ear antenna on top of the TV every ten minutes.
